Play Therapy with the Neurodiverse

Approximately one in five children is in some way neurologically diverse, meaning their brains function is “atypical.” Neurodiverse children have many challenges. This preconference will help practitioners better identify and understand neurodiversity and how play therapy can be an effective way to help these children and their families' thrive.
Learning Objectives:
• Be aware of the types of presenting problems the neurodiverse child presents positively impacted by play • Be able to conceptualize a neurodiverse child’s presenting problem(s) developmentally • Understand the ethical and multicultural issues associated with the use of play with the neurodiverse child • Become comfortable using play therapy activities with the neurodiverse child
