ICA President

Stefanie Sherman

Hello! I am Stefanie Sherman, I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Idaho and hold an NCC.  I have worked in addiction in community mental health before opening a private practice 5 years ago, where I work with adult clients who struggle with narcissistic abuse, anxiety, trauma and burnout.  I see clients exclusively in telehealth.  I have a special focus on caregiving professions (therapists, doctors, nurses, etc), first responders and military, particularly special forces.  Born in Burley, I have ties to Southern Idaho and the Treasure Valley.  I am a veteran and military spouse and currently live in Washington where my husband is stationed.  In the past, I have served on the board of IDASERVIC as the president and secretary for Chi Sigma Iota at Boise State University.  I am also concurrently serving as the Marketing Chair for ICA. I have strengths in public speaking, marketing/design and organization.  My goal for ICA this year is to build connection and unity among Idaho counselors through transparency, communication and reorganization, while rebuilding trust in the organization and adding benefits for members.  I am looking forward to my growing network of leaders in other state and national organizations to guide the transition this year.  In my free time, I love to read, host book clubs, travel and spend time with my tribe out at the lake.

ICA President-Elect

Lydia Missal

I am Lydia Missal, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) since 2015 and a Registered Supervisor since 2018 in the state of Idaho.  I am also a Certified EMDR Therapist and actively working towards becoming an EMDR consultant.  I have 15 years of experience in numerous settings, including community and outpatient mental health, women’s advocacy, wilderness therapy and, currently, private practice.  In 2020, I founded a small group practice called Flow State Psychotherapy, LLC that offers adventure and nature-based experiential therapy as primary healing modalities.  Throughout my experience, I’ve served veterans, professional mountain guides and firefighters with chronic stress disorders, adults and youth with severe disabling mental illness, recovering and folks in active addiction, individuals with complex and acute trauma including crisis response work, and women and children exposed to intimate partner violence.  I was born and raised in Iowa.  I completed my Master’s Degree at Prescott College, AZ while living in Missoula, MT.  I had a desire to return to my passionate roots of Adventure Therapy and this led me to Gooding, ID as BlueFire Wilderness Therapy’s first therapist.  Currently, I live in the Wood River Valley and practice in Hailey.  My passion for ethics and lifelong learning has motivated me to participate in several professional associations. I have served in a variety of capacities such as presenter and chair to hosting booths in expo halls.  Most recently, I served as the chair overseeing presentations and programs for the ICA 2023 conference.  My intention for ICA is to cultivate synergy, trust, transparency and connection within our professional community and statewide networks as well as ask honest and challenging questions to foster healing and growth. In my free time, I love spending time with my husband and our two pups, family and friends, reading, cooking, practicing yoga, rock climbing, traveling and being in nature.
